I began my nonprofit career in direct services as an advocate for women in the nation’s first domestic violence shelter. After dabbling in journalism, human rights and academia, I found my roots in nonprofit development. I’m deeply committed to serving and advocating for marginalized communities. My work includes board development, strategic planning and all aspects of fundraising development, primarily foundation strategy and institutional giving. I also support organizations with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals and provide interim development management.
I’ve held roles at KoreanAmericanStory.org, David Lynch Foundation, Harlem Children’s Zone, The United Nations, National Council for Research on Women, and Hunter College department of Women’s and Gender Studies where I taught a course on feminist organizations and activism as an Adjunct Professor.
I received a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Sociology from Augsburg University; and an M.Phil in Ethnic and Racial Studies from Trinity College Dublin. I also attended Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea as an international student and at their Korean Language Institute.
My writing has appeared in the Asian American Press, Korea Times, Earth Times, Earth Times Monthly, Clinton Chronicle, and as a contributing author to The Women's Movement Today: An Encyclopedia of Third Wave Feminism.
I was born in Korea, raised in Minnesota, and have lived in New York City for over twenty years. My forever home is in the Bronx with my husband, three kids and dog.
